Biden’s American Rescue Plan Will Deliver Meaningful Relief to Families, Schools, Local Business, and Communities
COLUMBUS — A coalition of Ohio labor, advocacy, and community organizations have signed onto a letter urging U.S. Sen. Rob Portman to support President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan. Under President Biden’s plan, Ohio could receive an estimated $22 billion in funding for unemployment relief, vaccinations and testing, schools, child care and rental assistance, and state and local aid. The president’s plan also gives families a $1,400 per-person check, providing an immediate lifeline to Ohioans struggling during this pandemic.
The letter, spearheaded by For Our Future Ohio Action Fund, calls on Sen. Portman to act quickly and boldly to deliver meaningful relief to families, communities, local businesses, schools, and frontline workers. Sen. Portman is part of a group of 10 Republican Senators negotiating a COVID relief package with President Biden.
“Ohioans need a comprehensive plan to get us through this crisis without further delay,” said For Our Future Ohio Action Fund spokesperson Chelsea Kiene. “President Biden’s plan would help alleviate the pain many Ohioans are experiencing while investing in our health care, communities, and long-term economic recovery. It’s time for Sen. Portman to stand with Ohio workers, families, and communities and support the president’s plan.”
The American Rescue Plan has broad bipartisan support from Americans, with nearly three quarters of Americans supporting President Biden’s proposal.
