For Our Future Ohio (FOF-OH) Action Fund today announced the launch of a digital and virtual primary election effort to encourage Ohioans to vote by mail in the primary election and to inform voters about the extension of the primary election and the vote-by-mail process.
As the new April 28 voting deadline approaches, FOF-OH staff and volunteers will send text messages to Democratic base voters. A layered digital advertising campaign will also encourage Ohioans to vote by mail and provide information on how to vote by mail.
“Even in the era of coronavirus, the important work of engaging with and mobilizing voters doesn’t stop, especially in the midst of a high-stakes election,” said For Our Future Ohio Action Fund Communications Director Chelsea Kiene. “For Our Future Ohio has been able to quickly adapt to this new climate because for years our organization has been innovating and staying ahead of the digital curve. While some of our tactics have pivoted during this time, For Our Future Ohio’s core mission remains the same: empowering communities to take action to drive long-term, sustained progressive power.”
In preparation for the general election and with vote by mail becoming increasingly important during the coronavirus pandemic, FOF-OH will test various messages and modes of communication in order to provide insight into best practices for communicating digitally and virtually with voters about mail-in voting. Outreach to voters will include video messages embedded within text messages as well ads that initiate Facebook Messenger conversations, among other tactics.
