Community leaders and grassroots activists throughout Ohio have been hard at work defending progressive values and fighting back against policies that harm our fellow Americans. Here’s a look back at some of the ways progressives like you helped make 2017 the Year of Resistance:
Ohioans fought health care repeal. Through phone calls, town halls, rallies, and storytelling, your actions helped defeat Republican efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Looking ahead, we’ll continue to work together to send a clear message to Washington and the Statehouse that Ohioans reject efforts to take away our health care!
We’re standing with Dreamers. Since the Trump administration ended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, Ohioans are calling on Congress to protect Dreamers and pass a clean Dream Act. We’ll continue to put the pressure on Congress to act.
We refused to let racism and hatred win. In the aftermath of violent protests organized by the so-called alt-right movement in Charlottesville, communities throughout Ohio came together to peacefully demonstrate against racism and violent extremism. We’ll continue working towards a more inclusive and just Ohio.
We’re fighting for tax fairness. Republicans in Congress are giving massive tax breaks to millionaires, billionaires, and wealthy corporations — paid for by working- and middle-class families. Just like the fight for our health care, we won’t let Ohio forget the shameful #GOPTaxScam.
In 2018, For Ohio’s Future will continue to fight back against any policies that hurt our families, weaken our communities, or threaten our future.
