It’s Time for Republicans to Move on From Reckless Health Care Repeal Campaign

September 26, 2017

According to multiple reports, Senate Republicans will not hold a vote on the Republicans’ latest proposal to repeal the Affordable Care Act, known as the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson bill. For Ohio’s Future Action Fund’s State Director Antonia Webb released the following statement in response:

“This bill represented the latest in a series of reckless proposals that, if signed into law, would have devastated our health care system and jeopardized the health and financial security of millions of Americans. After more than seven years of trying to undo the Affordable Care Act, it’s time for Republicans in Congress to move on and work with Democrats on a bipartisan solution to protect and strengthen Americans’ access to quality, affordable health care.

“To be clear, the Senate Republicans’ failure to pass a health care repeal bill did not occur in a vacuum. It’s thanks to the tireless efforts of individuals throughout the country and right here in Ohio who made their voices heard through phone calls, letters, rallies, and town halls. Through their stories and their actions, these individuals sent a clear message to Washington that they will hold their lawmakers accountable for partisan attacks on our health care.”
