NEW WEB AD: Senate GOP Exempts Itself from Health Care Repeal

Jul 14, 2017

Columbus, OH — A new web video advertisement released by Save My Care highlights the last minute attempt by Senate Republicans to add a provision to their health care repeal bill that would exempt Members of Congress from some of the most harmful provisions of the legislation.

Late last night, VOX reported that: “Senate Republicans included a provision that exempts members of Congress and their staff from part of their latest health care plan. This exemption could have the effect of ensuring that members of Congress have coverage for a wider array of benefits than other Americans who purchase their own coverage.”

While it now protects Members of Congress, the web ad reminds voters that the health care repeal bill will still lead to tens of millions losing coverage, allow insurers to deny coverage for people with pre-existing conditions, still includes unprecedented slashing of Medicaid and it still lets insurers charge up to 5 times more for people over 50.

Save My Care is a grassroots community of Americans from all 50 states who have come together as a movement to oppose the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, and push for positive solutions to our health care challenges.
